Sails Sewing Machine - How to solve the needle heat?

Dec 06, 2023

Nowadays, the demand for Sails Sewing Machine is increasing day by day, many manufacturers in order to satisfy the demand for sewing products, workers are required to work overtime to guide the sewing machine is also running around the clock, so it is very easy to make the sewing machine to appear a variety of problems, the needle is hot is one of the more common one. Let's look at how to solve the problem of needle heating.

If the sewing machine appears the situation of needle heat, in our repeated debugging rotary hook still can not be solved, we can rule out is the needle and rotary hook failure, at this time we should be from the following three points to analyze the reasons.

1. The needle of the upper and lower feed of the sewing machine is not smooth, causing the friction between the material and the needle to be too large, which requires us to change the appropriate needle and then work.

2. The installation position of the sewing machine needle is not correct, which causes the needle to touch the head of the rotary hook frequently, in this case, we need to stop the operation of the equipment and adjust the rotary hook to the correct position.

3. The needle of the upper and lower feed of the sewing machine touches the beveled surface of the rotary hook, in this case, we need to adjust the correct position of the sewing machine, and if it can't be solved, we need to consider changing the rotary hook and changing the type of needle used.

Dealing With Hot Needles When Sewing Sails
Sewing Sails fabric can be tough on your Sails Sewing Machine needles. The thick woven fabric puts a lot of friction on the needle as it pushes through the material, which can cause the needle to get hot. This builds up over time as you continue stitching, and it can become an uncomfortable and even painful issue. So what do you do? Here are some tips :
1. Change needles frequently
Don't try to push through an entire canvas project on one needle. The heat and friction will wear the needle down quickly. Change to a fresh needle every hour or so to allow the previous needle to cool down. This will greatly reduce overall heat buildup and discomfort.
2. Use the proper needle size and type
Be sure you are using the ideal needle for canvas – typically a size 16/100 or 18/110 denim/jeans needle. The thicker shank and point are designed to handle the extra force needed to penetrate canvas weave without bending or dulling too quickly. A leather needle is also a good option.
3. Check your thread tension
If the thread tension is too tight, it forces the thread and needle to pull hard through the canvas material adding strain and friction. Make sure your thread tension is adjusted properly so the needle can move smoothly without excessive resistance.
4. Consider needle coolers
Special needle cooling devices can fit onto your machine to help dissipate heat. Most are made of ceramic and draw heat away from the metal needle. This prevents the needle from getting as hot so you can continue sewing without pain.
5. Take regular breaks
Even with the best techniques and equipment, sewing canvas can take its toll. Be sure to stop periodically, allow your needles to fully cool, and give your fingers a rest. This will make the project much more manageable and enjoyable!
