Import Of Sewing Equipment in Türkiye in The First Three Quarters Of 2022

Türkiye has a long history of textile and garment production and is adjacent to the European Union consumer market. With its superior geographical location, Turkey has a huge demand for sewing equipment. It is one of the main export markets of sewing equipment in China. According to the prediction of the World Monetary Fund (IMF), Türkiye's gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by 5% in 2022, and the market development prospect is broad.

In the first three quarters of 2022, Türkiye accumulatively imports $420 million of various sewing equipment. Among them, Türkiye imported a total of 150 million dollars of sewing equipment in the third quarter, an increase of 9.63% compared with the second quarter and 41.39% compared with the same period last year. In the third quarter, Türkiye imported US $74.3797 million of sewing equipment from China, an increase of 55.13% compared with the second quarter, and an increase of 64.86% compared with the same period last year (see Figure 1 for details).

In the first three quarters of 2022, China is the largest sewing equipment import market in Türkiye, with a cumulative import volume of 176 million US dollars, an increase of 33.94% compared with the same period last year; The second largest import market is Germany, with a cumulative import volume of 116 million US dollars, up 50.84% year on year; The third largest import market is Italy, with a cumulative import volume of 37.2911 million US dollars, up 10.46% year on year.
