Chainstitch Multi-Needle Machine Common Problems, Causes, and Emergency Handling Methods

Chainstitch multi-needle machines, also known as elastic machines, rubber band machines, multi-needle machines, and multi-needle chain machines, are primarily used for sewing elastic garments and pants. So, how should the common problems with it be resolved?

1. Adjustment of the Looper and Needle
When installing straight needles and loopers, they should be inserted fully into the needle clamp and looper seat at the bottom. The gap between the looper tip and the side of the needle should be maintained between 0 to 0.1 millimeters. When the looper is retracted to the furthest point, the distance between the looper tip and the centerline of the needle should be maintained between 2.5 to 3 millimeters. As the needle rises from its lowest point, the looper begins to catch the thread. When the looper tip aligns with the centerline of the needle, the looper tip should be positioned 1.5 to 2 millimeters above the needle hole.

2. Adjustment of the Take-up Lever
The take-up lever should be kept flat upward. When the head of the take-up lever reaches the center of the needle, it should maintain a distance of 0.5 millimeters from the needle. When the looper catches the thread of the needle and the take-up lever starts to move, carefully adjust the take-up lever to ensure that it smoothly enters the thread loop of the looper and catches and opens the looper thread. Also, ensure that the gap between the take-up lever and the tip of the looper is within the range of 0.1 to 0.2 millimeters. During actual adjustment, it should be just enough to avoid contact with the looper.

3. Adjustment of the Needle Thread Tension
When the needle descends to its lowest point, align the eye of the thread guide with the thread quantity adjustment lever. If you want the needle thread loop to be larger, for products like flat sewing machines, overlock machines, stretch sewing machines, etc., raise the thread quantity adjustment lever. Conversely, lower the thread quantity adjustment lever.
 

4. Adjustment of the Looper Thread Tension
When using synthetic thread, you can adjust the position of the looper thread hook up and down. There are many series of complementary products available for various related products. Customers may purchase one type of equipment but may not be able to match it with other equipment purchased later to meet specific process requirements. Even if a complete set of equipment is purchased, ensure that when the looper take-up lever is at its lowest position, the distance from the looper hook eye should be 7 to 8 millimeters.
