How to solve thread burned on the lockstitch sewing machine during high-speed sewing?

Dec 08, 2020

It is known that the principle of friction heat generation. When the friction is too intense, it is easy to produce high temperature, which can reach quite high. When lockstitch sewing machine is sewing, there is high-speed repeated friction between the needle and the sewing material. At this time, it is very easy to cause the needle to heat up. When the needle exceeds 180°C, the synthetic fiber suture and sewing material will be burned.

Now let's analyze the common situation roughly:

(1) The sewing material is more thicker than the common;

(2) Sewing material is tough and dense;

(3) The melting point of suture is low;

(4) The selected needle is thin and the suture is thick;

(5) The sewing speed is relatively high.

Solution:

(1) Choose double-section needle or high-speed needle on lockstitch sewing machine: The needle bar of the double-section needle has upper and lower sections. The upper section is thick to reduce the needle vibration, and the lower section is thin to reduce the friction between the needle and the sewing material and reduce the needle temperature. Except that the needle bar is divided into upper and lower sections, the size of the needle tip and both sides of the needle hole of the high-speed machine needle is larger than that of the needle bar to reduce the friction between the needle bar and the sewing material.

(2) Use silicon oil cooling device or air cooling device: Add silicone oil on the suture or blow the needle with an air cooling device to reduce the needle temperature and prevent the suture from softening at high temperatures, blocking the needle hole and needle groove, and burning the sewing material.

(3) Replace the thick needle.

(4) Use cotton spun thread or properly treated synthetic fiber cored thread.

(5) After the above measures are implemented, the heat generated by the needle will be greatly reduced. If the sewing speed is still higher than the desired value, please consider reducing the sewing speed of the lockstitch sewing machine, such as 1200r/min or 1000r/min, or even lower, until no burning occurs. Sewing and normal sewing can be performed.
