In 1986, China's "Standard" brand computerized straight-stitch sewing machine was introduced; however, due to its high price, it did not experience significant growth for over two decades.

From the late 1990s to 2007, China's sewing machinery industry experienced rapid growth, reaching an unprecedented peak in domestic sewing machinery production by 2007. In the early 21st century, over 70% of global sewing machine production was in China. Over the course of a decade, China's sewing machinery industry, through strenuous development efforts, rapidly rose to become a major player in the global sewing machinery market, transitioning from a sewing machinery manufacturing powerhouse to a sewing machinery manufacturing superpower.

The so-called computerized sewing machine, colloquially referred to as a computer sewing machine, has evolved in response to market and consumer structure adjustments. Slow-speed industrial sewing machines no longer meet production demands, and sewing machines are advancing towards high-speed and serial production. Electronic and computer technologies are widely applied in sewing machines. Computerized sewing machines not only enable intelligent control, significantly improving production efficiency and reducing operational complexity, but they also allow some tasks to be performed mechanically, facilitating digital management for enterprises.

Computerized sewing machines are microcomputer-controlled and can automatically execute predefined sewing tasks. This includes automatic edge sewing, automatic adjustment of thread tension for varying fabric thickness, automatic speed adjustment, automatic torque adjustment, automatic thread cutting, automatic needle rethreading, and more.

Today's sewing machines come in various types and offer comprehensive functions, catering to a wide range of sewing requirements, whether for industrial-sized, mechanized sewing machines or small, household sewing machines.
