The Dragon Boat Festival, the day called "Duan Wu" （ meaning Day of Right Mid-Day), is a folk festival integrating worship, blessing, entertainment, and food.

The Dragon Boat Festival, the Spring Festival, the Qingming Festival, and the Mid Autumn Festival are called the four traditional festivals in China.

In May 2006, the State Council listed it in the first batch of the national intangible cultural heritage list; Since 2008, it has been listed as a national legal holiday. In September 2009, UNESCO officially approved it to be included in the list of representative works of human intangible cultural heritage, and the Dragon Boat Festival became the first festival selected as a world intangible cultural heritage in China.
