Appliqué Embroidery
Zigzag stitches are highly suitable for sewing appliqué embroidery around small floral fabrics. For machines with adjustable stitch length, when the stitch length is shortened, the Z-shaped zigzag stitch provides a smooth surface effect. The stitch spacing should be set to be short enough so that you cannot see the fabric between stitches, but not too short to avoid having gaps under the stitches. You can use a satin stitch embroidery presser foot, which has a groove at the bottom, allowing dense stitching to freely pass underneath.
Decorative Stitches
Sew a row or multiple rows of decorative stitches on the fabric, experimenting with various thread types and colors. For machines with adjustable stitch length and/or width, try different settings to customize the appearance of the stitches.
For denser stitches, such as when sewing satin stitches, use a satin stitch embroidery presser foot. If using thicker threads like cotton threads, use larger needle sizes to allow the thread to pass freely through them. It is recommended to use a stabilizer under the fabric to help support the stitching.
