There are so many usages of straight stitch(2)

Aug 23, 2023

09. Edge Stitching with Guideline

Sew multiple rows of evenly spaced parallel lines. Using a walking foot during sewing helps prevent fabric misalignment.

10. Wave Stitching

Wave stitching is sometimes referred to as "contour stitching."

This technique involves following the shape of appliques, patterns printed on fabric, or even fabric embroidery. Set the machine to a straight stitch; the thread color can match the fabric or create a contrasting look. Stitch the desired number of rows around the pattern to create an interesting texture.

11. Adding Trims

Enhance fabric by adding ribbons and lace.

To add ribbons or lace, set the machine to a straight stitch. When sewing wider or more delicate trims, using fusible tape can be helpful to secure them in place.

12.Frayed Edge Appliqué

Frayed edge appliqué is one of the simplest ways to create appliqués using a sewing machine.

Begin by fusing the appliqué onto the base fabric using fusible interfacing. Use a straight stitch to sew around the appliqué, approximately 3mm from the frayed edge. Tip: Using an open-toe presser foot can provide clearer visibility of the stitching area.

13. Double Needle Tucks

Please use a lightweight fabric for creating tucks.

To create tucks, set the machine to a straight stitch, and install a double needle. For optimal results, pair it with a tuck presser foot. Place one thread spool on the main thread spindle and the second spool on the auxiliary spindle. This will allow the two threads to unwind in opposite directions, preventing them from tangling during sewing. Thread both needles together following the threading path, but manually thread each needle. Increase the upper thread tension to enhance the pleats.

14. Double Needle Hemming

Double-needle hemming provides a professional surface finish for garments.

On the front side, there are two parallel rows of straight stitches, while the back side shows a zigzag pattern. Double needles come in various sizes, so please select the appropriate needle size for sewing. Place one thread spool on the main thread spindle and the second spool on the auxiliary spindle. Allow the threads to unwind in opposite directions to prevent them from tangling during sewing. Thread both needles together following the threading path, but manually thread each needle. Fold the hem upwards, sewing from the fabric's right side to lock the raw edge while stitching.

15. Corded Piping Binding

Cut a strip of binding wide enough to encase the cord, leaving a sufficient seam allowance.

The binding strip should be cut on the bias, allowing for easy stitching around corners and curves without causing wrinkles. Set the machine to a straight stitch with a stitch length of approximately 2.5 millimeters. Using a piping foot will help keep the stitching closer to the cord as you sew.
