The textile and clothing replenishment momentum in major overseas markets such as the United States was actively released, driving the rapid recovery of demand for sewing machinery products in South Asia, ASEAN, Latin America, Africa and other regional countries. my country's exports to Vietnam, Brazil, Cambodia, Egypt and other regional markets in the month showed a year-on-year doubling trend. The monthly export volume of the industry increased to US$310 million, a year-on-year increase of 24.63% and a month-on-month increase of 2.72%. The staged stabilization and improvement of the industry's exports continued to consolidate.

01 Export Overview

According to the data of the General Administration of Customs: From January to June 2024, the cumulative export value of my country's sewing machinery products was US$1.608 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.15%. Among them, the export volume of industrial sewing machines was 2.28 million units, with an export value of US$730 million, up 1.49% and 5.28% year-on-year respectively; the export volume of embroidery machines was 52,000 units, with an export value of US$288 million, up 35.59% and 28.11% year-on-year respectively; the export volume of pre-sewing and post-sewing equipment was 870,000 units, with an export value of US$235 million, up 32.31% and 13.69% year-on-year respectively. The export of major categories of products in the industry showed an upward trend.
In June, my country's exports of sewing machinery products were US$310 million, up 24.63% year-on-year and 2.72% month-on-month. Among them, the export volume of industrial sewing machines was nearly 500,000 units, with an export value of US$146 million, up 23.78% and 30.13% year-on-year, and up 19.73% and 7.83% month-on-month respectively; the export volume of embroidery machines was more than 9,000 units, with an export value of 57 million yuan, up 27.33% and 38.17% year-on-year, and the export value increased by 6.31% month-on-month. In June, the export volume and value of major categories of products in the industry showed a year-on-year growth trend.

02 Overseas export market situation

From January to June 2024, my country's exports of sewing machinery products to Asia, Latin America and Africa showed an increase, while exports to Europe, North America and Oceania showed a year-on-year decline. Among the regional markets, my country's exports to the "Belt and Road" market amounted to US$1.121 billion, a year-on-year increase of 19.05%, accounting for 69.74% of the industry's exports, an increase of 5.22 percentage points over the same period last year; exports to the RCEP market amounted to US$482 million, a year-on-year increase of 29.51%, accounting for 29.97% of the industry's exports, an increase of 4.48 percentage points over the same period last year; exports to the ASEAN market amounted to US$423 million, a year-on-year increase of 41.65%, accounting for 26.28% of the industry's exports, an increase of It increased by 5.84 percentage points over the same period last year; exports to the South Asian market were US$413 million, up 41.11% year-on-year, accounting for 25.70% of the industry's exports, an increase of 5.64 percentage points over the same period last year; exports to the West Asian market were US$134 million, down 13.72% year-on-year; exports to the EU market were US$67.22 million, down 26.47% year-on-year; exports to the East Asian market were US$51.95 million, down 21.17% year-on-year; exports to the Central Asian market were US$43.49 million, down 46.55% year-on-year.
Specifically by country, from January to June, among the 199 countries and regions where my country's sewing machinery products were exported, more than half of the markets had positive year-on-year growth in export value, and the export value of the top four export markets in the industry (India, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Brazil) all showed a significant year-on-year growth. Among the top 20 export markets, 15 markets had positive year-on-year growth in export value, including 6 markets with a year-on-year increase of more than 30%, and one market with a year-on-year doubling of export value - Pakistan.

India is still my country's largest export market for sewing equipment. In the first half of the year, my country exported a total of 250 million US dollars of sewing machinery products to India, an increase of 28.70% year-on-year, accounting for 15.52% of my country's industry exports; exports to Vietnam amounted to 177 million US dollars, an increase of 64.84% year-on-year, accounting for 11.03% of my country's industry exports; exports to Pakistan amounted to 80.39 million US dollars, an increase of 160.46% year-on-year, accounting for 5.00% of my country's industry exports; exports to Brazil amounted to 70.46 million US dollars, an increase of 45.56% year-on-year, accounting for 4.38% of my country's industry exports. In addition, my country's exports to some ASEAN markets such as Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, South Asian markets such as Bangladesh, African markets such as Egypt, Algeria, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Latin American markets such as Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Venezuela, Paraguay, Nicaragua, and Middle Eastern markets such as Iran and Iraq all showed a year-on-year growth trend, among which exports to Pakistan, Hong Kong, Serbia, Venezuela, Paraguay and other markets all doubled year-on-year. However, the exports of sewing machinery products to North American markets such as the United States and Canada, East Asian markets such as Japan, European markets such as Germany and Poland, regional markets such as Turkey, Nigeria, Morocco, and the rapidly growing Russian and Central Asian markets last year all showed a decline in varying degrees year-on-year.

Among them, exports to ASEAN were US$76.45 million, a year-on-year increase of 65.71%; exports to South Asia were US$77.34 million, a year-on-year increase of 42.82%. Specifically, exports to India amounted to US$44.99 million, up 31.89% year-on-year and down 1.73% month-on-month; exports to Vietnam amounted to US$31.66 million, up 109.09% year-on-year and down 14.57% month-on-month; exports to Brazil amounted to US$20.31 million, up 110.09% year-on-year and up 40.10% month-on-month. In addition, my country's exports of sewing machines to Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Egypt, Mexico, Algeria, Thailand, Iran, South Korea, Morocco, Colombia, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, South Africa, Peru, the Philippines, Spain, Tanzania and other markets all showed double-digit growth year-on-year, among which exports to Vietnam, Brazil, Cambodia, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Venezuela, Syria and other markets all doubled year-on-year; while exports to the United States, Turkey, Russia, Japan, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan, Guatemala, Ecuador, Ukraine, Argentina, Chile, Canada and other markets all showed varying degrees of decline year-on-year.

03 Import Overview

According to the latest customs data, my country's cumulative imports of sewing machinery products from January to June 2024 were US$231 million, a year-on-year decrease of 54.59%. Among the major categories of products, except for the imports of pre-sewing and post-sewing equipment and household sewing machines, which fell sharply year-on-year, the imports of other major categories of products all showed a double-digit growth trend. Among them, the import volume of industrial sewing machines was 33,600 units, with an import value of US$55.09 million, up 71.35% and 48.93% year-on-year respectively; the import volume of pre-sewing and post-sewing equipment was 10,481 units, with an import value of US$123 million, down 28.64% and 71.90% year-on-year respectively; the import value of sewing machine parts was US$42.78 million, up 70.92% year-on-year; the import volume of embroidery machines was 282 units, down 8.74% year-on-year, with an import value of US$5.01 million, up 102.52% year-on-year; the import volume of household sewing machines was 60,200 units, with an import value of US$5.04 million, down 5.53% and 10.67% year-on-year respectively.

In June, my country's import value of sewing machinery products was US$24.78 million, down 74.51% year-on-year and 31.85% month-on-month. Among them, the import volume of industrial sewing machines was 4,096 units, with an import value of US$6.63 million, up 53.87% and 18.26% year-on-year, and down 66.71% and 37.19% month-on-month respectively; the import volume of pre-sewing and post-sewing equipment was 3,328 units, up 101.82% year-on-year, with an import value of US$10.04 million, down 88.29% year-on-year; the import value of sewing machine parts was US$6.49 million, up 57.04% year-on-year; the import volume of household sewing machines was 13,000 units, with an import value of US$1 million, down 12.12% and 18.57% year-on-year respectively.
