Export Overview:

According to the data of the General Administration of Customs: From January to May 2024, the cumulative export value of my country's sewing machinery products was US$1.299 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.99%. Among them, the export volume of industrial sewing machines was 1.78 million units, with an export value of US$583 million, down 3.79% and 0.30% year-on-year respectively; the export volume of embroidery machines was 42,400 units, with an export value of US$231 million, up 42.25% and 24.27% year-on-year respectively; the export volume of pre-sewing and post-sewing equipment was 68,900 units, with an export value of US$193 million, up 24.08% and 9.89% year-on-year respectively. In addition, the export value of household sewing machines increased slightly year-on-year, while the export value of sewing machine parts and components showed a slight decline year-on-year.

In May, my country exported US$302 million of sewing machinery products, up 23.72% year-on-year and 10.73% month-on-month. Among them, the export volume of industrial sewing machines was nearly 420,000 units, with an export value of US$136 million, up 10.18% and 16.16% year-on-year, and up 15.66% and 13.04% month-on-month respectively; the export volume of embroidery machines was 10,700 units, with an export value of 53 million yuan, up 55.42% and 28.25% year-on-year, and up 1.29% and 6.48% month-on-month respectively. Overseas export market situation

Among the regional markets, my country's exports to the "Belt and Road" market amounted to US$913 million, a year-on-year increase of 14.77%, accounting for 70.33% of the industry's exports, an increase of 5.99 percentage points over the same period last year; exports to the RCEP market amounted to US$394 million, a year-on-year increase of 20.70%, accounting for 30.32% of the industry's exports, an increase of 3.94 percentage points over the same period last year; exports to the ASEAN market amounted to US$346 million, a year-on-year increase of 32.03%, accounting for 26.66% of the industry's exports, an increase of The export to South Asia was 336 million US dollars, up 39.28% year-on-year, accounting for 25.88% of the industry's export volume, an increase of 6.37 percentage points over the same period last year; the export to West Asia was 109 million US dollars, down 14.30% year-on-year; the export to the EU market was 54.22 million US dollars, down 30.94% year-on-year; the export to East Asia was 41.58 million US dollars, down 226.15% year-on-year; the export to Central Asia was 33.58 million US dollars, down 51.61% year-on-year.

Specifically by country, from January to May, among the 198 countries and regions where my country's sewing machinery products were exported, half of the markets had a positive year-on-year growth in export volume, and the export volume of the top three export markets in the industry (India, Vietnam, and Pakistan) showed a significant year-on-year growth. Among the top 20 export markets, 13 markets had a positive year-on-year growth in export volume, including 5 markets with a year-on-year increase of more than 30%, and one market with a year-on-year doubling of export volume - Pakistan.

India is still my country's largest export market for sewing equipment. From January to May, my country exported 205 million US dollars of sewing machinery products to India, up 27.34% year-on-year, accounting for 15.76% of my country's industry exports; exports to Vietnam were 146 million US dollars, up 54.44% year-on-year, accounting for 11.23% of my country's industry exports; exports to Pakistan were 66.6 million US dollars, up 183.45% year-on-year, accounting for 5.13% of my country's industry exports. In addition, my country's exports to some ASEAN markets such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, South Asian markets such as Bangladesh, African markets such as Egypt, Algeria, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Latin American markets such as Brazil, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Middle Eastern markets such as Iran and Iraq all showed a year-on-year growth trend, among which exports to Pakistan, Hong Kong, China, Serbia, Paraguay and other markets doubled year-on-year. However, the exports of sewing machinery products to regional markets such as Turkey, Mexico, Nigeria, Morocco, re-export markets such as the United States, Japan, Singapore, and the rapidly growing Russian and Central Asian markets last year all showed a decline in varying degrees.

In May, my country's exports of sewing machinery to local markets such as ASEAN, South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia grew rapidly year-on-year, while exports to markets such as the United States, Japan, Turkey, Mexico, Central Asia, and Algeria showed a year-on-year decline. Among them, exports to ASEAN were US$83.29 million, a year-on-year increase of 90.12%; exports to South Asia were US$78.04 million, a year-on-year increase of 64.75%. Specifically, exports to India were US$45.78 million, a year-on-year increase of 48.37% and a month-on-month increase of 8.49%; exports to Vietnam were US$37.06 million, a year-on-year increase of 121.42% and a month-on-month increase of 7.32%; exports to Pakistan were US$15.93 million, a year-on-year increase of 167.73% and a month-on-month increase of 0.19%. In addition, my country's exports of sewing machines to Brazil, Bangladesh, Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Egypt, Nigeria, Colombia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Iraq, Taiwan and other markets have all shown double-digit growth year-on-year, among which exports to Vietnam, Pakistan, Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Egypt and other markets have doubled year-on-year; while exports to the United States, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, Uzbekistan, Algeria, Morocco, Iran, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Peru, Germany, Poland, Myanmar, Kenya, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy and other markets have all shown varying degrees of decline year-on-year.

According to the latest customs data, from January to May 2024, my country's cumulative imports of sewing machine products were US$207 million, a year-on-year decrease of 49.90%. Among the major categories of products, except for the sharp decline in the import value of pre-sewing and post-sewing equipment and household sewing machines, the import value of other major categories of products showed a double-digit growth trend. Among them, the import volume of industrial sewing machines was 29,500 units, with an import value of US$48.46 million, up 74.10% and 54.42% year-on-year respectively; the import volume of pre-sewing and post-sewing equipment was 7,153 units, with an import value of US$113 million, down 45.14% and 67.94% year-on-year respectively; the import value of sewing machine parts was US$36.29 million, up 73.67% year-on-year; the import volume of embroidery machines was 231 units, down 16.0% year-on-year, with an import value of US$4.39 million, up 130.61% year-on-year; the import volume of household sewing machines was 47,200 units, with an import value of US$4.04 million, down 3.54% and 8.47% year-on-year respectively.

In May, my country's import value of sewing machinery products was US$36.36 million, down 68.01% year-on-year and up 28.21% month-on-month. Among them, the import volume of industrial sewing machines was 12,304 units, with an import value of US$10.56 million, up 268.49% and 92.33% year-on-year, and up 92.07% and 17.62% month-on-month respectively; the import volume of pre-sewing and post-sewing equipment was 2,339 units, up 77.87% year-on-year, with an import value of US$16.11 million, down 84.09% year-on-year; the import value of sewing machine parts was US$7.595 million, up 73.03% year-on-year; the import volume of household sewing machines was 13,000 units, with an import value of US$1.14 million, down 47.84% and 50.77% year-on-year respectively.
