LATEST DATA: CHINA TEXTILE AND CLOTHING EXPORTS GREW 1.5% YEAR-ON-YEAR IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR

According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, in June, the global economic recovery was uneven, trade barriers in major markets increased, and the number of orders from buyers was lower than expected, and the year-on-year growth rate of textile and clothing exports slowed down. In US dollars, textile and clothing exports in that month increased by 2.3% year-on-year.

In the first half of the year, my country's textile and clothing exports totaled US$143.18 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.5%, of which textile exports increased by 3.3%, and clothing exports were the same as last year. On a monthly basis, export data gradually stabilized after experiencing double-digit growth in January and February and a decline in March, and resumed year-on-year growth in May and June. At present, the external situation is complex and severe, and overseas demand has not fully recovered. my country's textile and clothing exports still face great uncertainty.

Textile and clothing exports in RMB:

From January to June 2024, the cumulative export of textiles and clothing was 1,017.1 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7% over the same period last year (the same below), of which textile exports were 492.67 billion yuan, an increase of 6.5%, and clothing exports were 524.43 billion yuan, an increase of 3%.

In June, textile and clothing exports were 194.63 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.5% and a month-on-month increase of 4.9%, of which textile exports were 87.02 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.7% and a month-on-month decrease of 4.9%, and clothing exports were 107.61 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.8% and a month-on-month increase of 14.4%.

Textile and clothing exports in US dollars:

From January to June 2024, the cumulative export of textiles and clothing was 143.18 billion US dollars, an increase of 1.5%, of which textile exports were 69.35 billion US dollars, an increase of 3.3%, and clothing exports were 73.83 billion US dollars, the same as the previous year.

In June, textile and clothing exports reached US$27.4 billion, up 2.3% year-on-year and 4.8% month-on-month. Among them, textile exports reached US$12.25 billion, up 6.6% year-on-year and down 4.9% month-on-month. Clothing exports reached US$15.15 billion, down 0.9% year-on-year and up 14.3% month-on-month.
