The thread take-up mechanism has two functions: one is to control the thread take-up bar to supply the proper amount of surface thread for sewing; The second is to control the thread take-up bar to recover the proper amount of surface thread, so that the interweaving of surface thread and the bottom thread is in the middle of the sewing material and tightened, and then extract the surface thread required for sewing the next line from the thread ball.

So, how to realize the supply and recovery of an appropriate amount of surface threads?

In general, this task is accomplished by using a specific mechanism to cooperate with the surface thread gripper. Generally, there are many types of thread take-up mechanisms, As shown in the figure: Figure (a) shows the connecting rod take-up; Figure (b) shows sliding rod take-up; Figure (c) shows the take-up of a special-shaped rotary wheel. These three types of take-up are mostly used in high-speed sewing machines; Figure (d) shows the wheel take-up; Figure (e) shows the cam type take-up, which is mostly used for low-speed sewing machines. Although the cam-type take-up is difficult to adapt to high speed, it is still widely used for household sewing machines because of its simple structure and low cost, especially the ideal coordination between the movement of the thread take-up lever and the movement of the needle and the shuttle mechanism.
