The overlock sewing machine is the second largest machine after the flat sewing machine in the sewing industry. In 1859, Goodes and Miller invented the 501 single edging stitch(Figure 1) sewing machine, which was made with one machine needle and two fork needles (Figure 2). In 1860, Jacob Steiner invented the 502 double edge sewing machine, in 1897, Joseph Merrow invented the three-thread sewing machine, In this way, the sewing development of the overlock sewing machine is basically finalized, and mellow's products are still at the top level of the industry.

About 1890, the U.S. company Youning produced the first generation of 15400 three-thread sewing machines with needles perpendicular to the plate plane (Figure 3). The second generation of seamers appeared around 1915, it is an 81-type model produced by The American Company (Figure 4). The third generation was produced during World War II. It is also a fully automatic lubrication type successfully developed by an American company, which is a great leap in the technical development of overlock sewing machines. The following generations of products have no obvious innovation in the main structure, which have added up and down synchronous feeding, automatic thread cutting, dust suction, and other electronic and pneumatic devices.
